About Beth
I am a native of Conroe, Texas. I grew up in a home filled with music. With my mother being a music teacher and concert pianist and my father playing guitar and banjo, it's easy to see why I chose music and continued to grow with my Lyrical Soprano voice. Today, I live in Austin with my husband (who is also a musician) and our 5 children...yes...5 children!
Motive
Singing has always been a part of my life. From the time I was old enough to make sounds, I was humming. When I developed a vocabulary I would make up songs and sing them as I played. In sixth grade I signed up for choir and quickly found my new home. We moved schools while I was in seventh grade and I was introduced to the woman who inspired my desire to teach music. I worked hard during my seventh grade year and earned a spot in the Region IX All-Region Honor Choir. This began my journey of vocal discovery. While at Conroe High School, I was the first female in 10 years to earn a spot on the 1998 TMEA All-State Choir. Taking advantage of the music scholarships I received, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Music (BME) from Sam Houston State University and in 2003 began teaching choir, first as an associate choir director at Mitchell Intermediate in the Woodlands, TX. I followed up as the choir director at Moorehead Jr. High Scool in Conroe, TX. There I was successful at reviving a struggling program and growing it from a few dozen students to an award-winning program over 200 students strong.
